The Dam tot Damloop could never have become one of the largest running events in the world without the great atmosphere that is created by the more than 250,000 spectators each year. The event is not only fun for the runners, but also for anyone who wants to experience the unique atmosphere of the Dam tot Damloop.
At the start, along the track and at the finish, you cheer the thousands of runners passionately throughout the day. Encouragement that runners deserve like no other, because running the Dam tot Damloop is anything but easy, in fact it’s a great achievement. It’s great to attend one of the starts to give the runners some encouragement for along the way.

Mini Dam tot Damlopen Zaandam: De Burcht Zaandam (Sunday 9.30 – 10.30 uur);
Mini Dam tot Damlopen Molenwijk: Molenwijk Amsterdam-Noord (Sunday 9.30 – 9.40 uur).
After the start you can move to a spot along the course. Both the residents in Zaandam and Amsterdam-Noord make this a truly amazing happening every year. Streets are decorated with streamers, banners and balloons, and on on Saturday evening atmospheric lighting and many people make spontaneous music. There is also live music at over 30 locations of the event.
For both the runners and the spectators the climax is reached at the finish! What could be better than welcoming the runners after they have completed their glorious achievement, and celebrate in the Dam tot Dam Park.

Damloop by night 5 English Mile: Gerhardstraat Zaandam (19.48 – 22.00).
If you would like to meet participants after the finish to celebrate the great performance, then visit the Dam tot Dam Park (Burgemeester in ‘t Veldpark). Here you can visit live music performances.
An ideal location to support the runners just before the finish is the Dam tot Dam Fan Square. The runners of the 10 Mile pass this square near the Zaanse Dam between 11.00 and 17.00. At the Fan Square you can also enjoy a snack and drink while listening to the Sky Radio Drive-in Show. During the run on Sunday there is also a large video screen on which the live broadcoast of RTV NH is shown.
The Molenwijk in Amsterdam-Noord is completely taken over by the annual Dam tot Dam events. Thousands of walking or running participants pass through the neighbourhood. The combined groups of residents of Oostzanerwerf organise, in close collaboration with the district Amsterdam-Noord, Combiwel Amsterdam and Le Champion, a festive reception when the participants pass through the neighbourhood.

There is a lot to do during the Dam tot Damloop in and around Zaandam. In the festive atmosphere, participants and their supporters can enjoy the music, the cafés and shops that are open on this day in the town centre. You can make a festive weekend of it. Once again this year, the Dam tot Damloop will be broadcasted live by NH on Sunday from 10.00 to 17.00. The broadcast begins with the race runners. After that, particular attention is paid to the recreational participants and the festivities along the course. This is repeated in the evening and in the days after the Dam tot Damloop.
